Putting Pain Relief to the test with people who are willing to try another way to manage pain experienced in their body. This requires levels of patience and resilience to succeed and to show up regardless of what other competitors are currently doing. As a small business our commitment to using natural therapies to restore as much mobility as physically possible to our son Jenson, comes with the guarantee that we are what we do.

What do we mean by this? We are willing to show and demonstrate how are products work regularly at trades shows all over the UK. Visitors can ask key questions about allergies and how it would be best applied. Rather than purchasing online without any advice. Each balm is created with intention to deal with certain systems of the body. Our Pain Relief has been recognised as an innovative solution for outdoor adventurers who can on occasion feel the ache from various injuries.

When we designed the Pain Relief it was to enable movement to complete training whilst experiencing discomfort more comfortably. For several supporters this could mean the difference to healing an existing injury or enabling movement in a joint that seizes up creating a barrier to exercise. The success of mobilisation after applying the balm can affect confidence to place weight through the area and know that it can restore muscle integrity in the long term. For Physios this is a great toolset to use whilst their clients are beginning to recover from a localized surgery or preparing for long term medical treatment which will need a maintenance of muscle care.

Revisiting the muscles through our visual archives with Jenson, it is evident that all systems rely on muscle strength to be able to execute everyday self-care and communication with others in a social environment.

Rebuilding muscle memory is extremely important and should be at the forefront of any clinician’s mind whilst prescribing long term pain solutions. The root cause of the problem can often stem back to coping strategies the muscles use to get through the trauma experienced if pain is too severe. The use of compression leaves muscles in positions of additional stress creating pain in another area.

As we celebrate Jenson walking with one stick, handwriting with clear formation of letters, eating without missing his mouth, talking his way out of homework. Every muscle enables the articulation of body language, verbal and written communication. The muscles can communicate; they have memories like our thoughts.

Learning through our personal journey of recovery, the medical team and oncology consultants were surprised at how intuitive the muscles are with the brain and if anything, that seemed amiss, would be evident in the primal movements Jenson would try to accomplish. Through our own detective work, when Jenson’s shunt suffered a malfunction, he was unable to balance or look up without feeling sick. The intracranial pressure was too high resulting in severe headaches and visual disturbances. At this point Jenson was wearing glasses, an Orthotic suit and losing muscle mass. The Neurosurgeons found that it was broken and needed fixing. The frustrating thing we experienced was that Jenson had a check with the oncology team every week before he had Chemotherapy. Every scan returned a normal placement of the shunt externally and so the consultants just thought it was a dietary problem. But when these interventions were not working, we knew it had to be the internal working of the shunt.

After seeing Jenson’s behaviour, it was clear he was in distress and physically weak. When the Neurosurgeon located the source of the problem he did not hesitate to open the site to check. Since this revision which is apparently common in children with shunts. Jenson has had an uplift in muscle growth and tone. He has built his core to be strong enough to not need his Orthotic suit and his visual strength has improved to no longer need glasses. The recovery we did not know he would need to do, created improvements to all his muscles. Jenson found his way to become independent.

So, this is just one experience, whereby all clinicians could not spot the problem due to it being an internal mechanical problem. No bloods picked it up, no MRI and physical examination of the shunt placement seemed normal.

There is a whole universal system of muscle communication that needs to be investigated, and Jenson’s Journey has had the chance to go on to develop skills to initiate healing and movement. Finding the route cause of any illness that is physically restricting the muscles should be made a priority. It’s with awareness of such incidents that more people are getting diagnosed earlier with a variety of conditions. Whereby with early intervention, people can preserve the physicality of their body for longer. In Jenson’s case, he will be able to restore movement so long as he dedicates time to it each day. By isolation of a muscle group, type of activity and the desired outcome.

Revisiting the use of Pain Relief it has shown to be effective with; Pain Reception, Swelling and bruising, post exercise aches in joints. These areas can be a consequence to rehabilitation work but with our toolset to offer clients, the discomfort experienced will be more acceptable. Leading to more successful outcomes for completion of rehabilitation, or to reach a mobility goal of full range of movement.

Muscle Mechanics emphasises the importance of self-care to care providers, including the Physiotherapists. We see the benefits our range of balms can bring to anyone facing a challenging time moving their muscles.
