Physiotherapists are renowned for embracing teamwork and tough physical challenges. PhysioUpdate readers seeking an extra challenge or two in the new year can now sign up for Tough Mudder events.
In promoting the company’s 2026 schedule, senior vice president Matthew Brooke described the 2025 version as having been ‘truly exceptional’.
‘Every year we’re blown away by the resilience, energy and camaraderie of our Mudders, but this year felt especially powerful – from record participation and unforgettable endurance performances to the incredible amount raised for charity.
He added: Tough Mudder is about pushing limits together, supporting one another through the toughest moments and celebrating what’s possible when you step outside your comfort zone. We couldn’t be prouder of our community and can’t wait to see what they take on next.’
Major events in 2025
More than 80,000 ‘Mudders’ undertook Tough Mudder courses in the UK during the past season, covering 900,000 kilometres collectively. From 5K and 15K courses to Infinity and endurance events, participants earned their stripes – and their striking headbands – through a mixture of physical challenge, mental toughness and muddy camaraderie.
London West hosted one of the season’s biggest events, welcoming about 18,000 Mudders in a single weekend. 2025 also marked a major milestone for the UK with the first outing for the World’s Toughest Mudder event on home. Set in the grounds of Belvoir Castle in Leicestershire, 1,515 athletes from 21 countries took on a 24-hour challenge. Battling heat, the terrain and exhaustion, competitors delivered extraordinary performances, with champions covering more than 100 miles – and an on-course proposal reminding everyone that Tough Mudder is as emotional as it is physical.

During 2025, some Mudders completed the ultimate ‘Holy Grail’: conquering Infinity, Toughest Mudder and World’s Toughest Mudder in a single year. Their combined mileage totals were nothing short of extraordinary, cementing their place among Tough Mudder legends.
Participants raised than £1 million raised for charities, including Macmillan, Mind, Cancer Research UK and Alzheimer’s Research UK.
Registration for the 2026 season is underway, promising, according to Tough Mudder UK, ‘even more challenges, laughter and unforgettable moments ahead’.
