Physiotherapist Bobby Scarborough is swapping the fiords of northern Norway for the west Yorkshire city of Bradford – the former ‘wool capital of the world’.

The 28-year-old joins Bradford City AFC as the club’s new head of medical after spending six years at FK Bodø Glimt, the side that won its first league title in Eliteserien, the Norwegian top division, in 2020 before repeating the achievement in 2021, 2023 and 2024.

His new club said it was ‘delighted’ with Bobby’s appointment, lauding his ‘wealth of experience’ gained from various UEFA competitions – most recently in the Europa League knockout stages.

The Bantams currently lie in second place in League Two and, under their Scottish manager Graham Alexander, promotion to the League One in May looks a distinct possibility.

A ‘massive club’

Bobby said: ‘I am incredibly excited to join Bradford City and begin working with an excellent team who are in a great position.

‘It is a massive football club and I am looking forward to building on the exceptional work already being carried out by the people here.’

David Sharpe, Bradford City’s head of football operations, said: ‘We are very pleased to welcome Bobby to the football club and look forward to working with such a talented individual.

‘The medical department will be in good hands and his experience at a very high level with FK Bodø Glimt will be a great asset for us moving forward.’

Bobby’s NHS experience

Bobby studied physiotherapy at the University of Birmingham and graduated in 2017, according to his LinkedIn profile. As well as gaining experience in the sports field, he worked at two NHS hospitals in the West Midlands before moving to Norway.
