Job seekers wishing to grasp a ‘unique opportunity’ to lead developments in a new physiotherapy degree course at Newman University in Birmingham have until 26 May to submit their application.

The post – head of subject: allied health (physiotherapy) – is currently being advertised on the university’s website with an annual salary of from £53,348 to £60,022. The first physiotherapy students are due to begin their studies in September 2023.

As head of subject, the successful applicant will work with the head of school (associate dean) to develop, lead and manage the newly established school of nursing and allied health, according the job advertisement.

‘In the first instance you will lead physiotherapy developments in the school though it is envisaged that over time the school of nursing at Newman University will grow and develop other areas of allied health provision.’

A key component of the post will be to liaise with the Health and Care Professions Council and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy to secure approval for the course. Another is to promote opportunities for students and staff members in research.

‘Exciting opportunity’

‘This post offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced, skilled and ambitious academic leader to join Newman University at an early stage of the development of nursing and allied health provision,’ the job advertisement continues.

The university already offers a range of subjects aligned with health and care education, including undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in counselling and psychotherapy, health and social care, psychology and sport.
