Balance Performance Physiotherapy has teamed up with Audley Nightingale Place to include hydrotherapy in the treatment options available to patients in south London.

Lucy Goldby, Balance Performance Physiotherapy’s owner and director, has been an advocate for accessible hydrotherapy for some time. She said: ‘I’m delighted that Balance is able to add hydrotherapy into its rehabilitation offering, completing the full array of restorative specialities for every musculoskeletal condition.’

Dr Goldby, a pioneering independent prescriber, noted: ‘There are instances when pain and dysfunction has caused such debilitation that appropriate exercise in water is the only remedy to kick start the entire muscular system. This is why we felt it was essential to offer this service to the residents of south London.’

Until now, options for patients in London who might benefit from hydrotherapy have been limited, with many with hindered mobility having to travel significant distances and face off-putting wait times.

The new service, sited near Clapham South underground station, went live this week (29 July onwards) and Dr Goldby and her team hope it will provide a much-needed, easily accessible option for patients seeking effective treatment closer to home.

Wesley Ridgeway, Audley Nightingale Place’s general manager, said: ‘We’re delighted to welcome Balance Performance Physiotherapy to Audley Nightingale Place. With the positive impact of movement within ageing well documented it’s important that our owners are given as much access as possible to different services, and hydrotherapy is one of these.’
