Bobo is a smart system designed by physios, for physios. It’s made up of an interactive balance board and wearable motion sensor which connect with an app, using real-time biofeedback to make rehab more fun, fast, and measurable. We caught up with one of Bobo’s physiotherapist founders, Gadi, to hear more about this innovative tool.
How does Bobo enhance the therapy experience in busy clinics?
The Bobo platform combines motion sensors and software to optimise the therapy experience. By making treatment more efficient, you can achieve more in less time. So, Bobo helps to increase patient flow and practice capacity.
-
Motivation and engagement: The app provides real-time feedback and includes games that make therapy enjoyable, fun, and more challenging.
-
Measurement and assessment: Data is captured from every exercise (or series of exercises), so you can easily track performance and progress, and generate advanced clinical reports.
-
Remote therapy monitoring: Create custom programs, monitor activity, and adjust training parameters remotely. This improves adherence and speeds up recovery.
What prompted you to develop Bobo?
I studied physiotherapy in Israel, focusing on rehabilitation technology. During my degree, my research confirmed that a goniometer app could measure range of motion just as effectively as a standard goniometer. This sparked my interest in integrating more technology into physiotherapy.
I have a strong entrepreneurial spirit, which inspired me to innovate. My business partner and I began with a big vision: turn all existing therapy exercises and tools into smart and interactive devices.
What challenges did you aim to address in traditional physiotherapy practices with Bobo?
We wanted to solve the problems of engagement, efficacy, and data collection costs. The aim was to make therapy more fun, effective, and measurable using affordable technology.
We had techy products in the clinics we worked in, but they were all large, expensive, and cumbersome. We aimed to create something simple that therapists could seamlessly integrate into their daily routines.
What sets Bobo apart from other products in the field?
Bobo’s software is intuitive and easy to use. The board and sensor are lightweight and designed with the user in mind. Plus, Bobo offers unbeatable ROI thanks to its low cost and ability to streamline business operations and add multiple new revenue streams.
-
User-friendly software: With a few taps, you can start a session without the hassle of a complicated setup. Choose from pre-defined programs or create custom ones using advanced rehabilitation protocols.
-
Efficient product design: Our single sensor digitises three essential training categories—balance, cycling, and wearable—streamlining the rehabilitation process.
-
Built on familiar practices: We’ve built our platform around common exercises and tools. It blends into existing routines so there’s no need for extensive retraining.
-
Affordability: For less than the cost of an hour’s session, Bobo gathers thousands of data points that would cost tens of thousands with traditional equipment.
-
New revenue opportunities: Offer Bobo systems for rental, attract elite clientele, expand your services to include remote therapy monitoring, and earn commission through our affiliate program.
What three tips would you give to physiotherapists with a business idea they would like to develop?
-
Share, share, share: As soon as you have an idea, talk about it as much as possible. Don’t be afraid that someone will steal your idea. The benefits you’ll gain from discussing it far outweigh any potential harm.
-
Stay optimistic and embrace a bit of irrationality: Turning an idea into a successful product and company is one of the hardest and least rewarding processes.
-
Exercise every day: It helps with concentration and maintaining long-term sanity. Plus, sometimes during repetitive exercise, your brain processes information differently, leading to important insights.
